Full Throttle’s ‘Mother’ of bad energy drinks.

One ‘bad mother’ indeed. Not ‘good’ bad, either. ‘Absolutely disgusting’ bad. My apologies to the Full Throttle faithful, but this stuff was just nasty. Coke, I’m completely ashamed of you for having let this slip out of your storied testing labs; someone over there is asleep at the wheel.

‘Full Throttle Mother’ is a sad, sad attempt to create an energy drink/energy juice hybrid (40% juice). Rockstar did it, and they were able to do it well. As did Monster. M-80 was excellent. The folks at Coke in charge of Full Throttle simply fell flat on their face in an attempt to keep up.

The flavor of Full Throttle Mother, aside from being bad, is at the very least unique. I’m left with nothing to really compare it to; it’s just different. Maybe those of you who have tasted an acai berry will recognize the profile, but I didn’t. That’s not good, as I test a lot of stuff, and I know people generally like things that are at least somewhat familiar to them.

One 8oz serving left me feeling energized, so despite it’s shortcomings in the flavor department, Full Throttle Mother at least does it’s ‘job’ well. I’d assume the whole can (which my palette would not let me consume), 16oz, would give me some jitters. Bottom line, in a (extremely) tight pinch, this will get the job done if you need a boost.

This ‘Mother’ will give you 120 calories per serving, and take $1.99 from your wallet. Should be available where Coke products are sold, until it gets yanked from the shelves. Pass on by though, there are much better options.

It does indeed have a weird berry funk. I suggest consuming it ice cold as drinking it room temperature would render it ouch vomit in the nasal cavities inducing.

Actually, I really enjoy this flavor of Full Throttle, even though it has a terrible name (the full name is “Full Throttle: Nature is a Bad Mother). By far my favorite, and it’s all natural.

I love this drink. REALLY bummed out they’ll prolly drop it cuz noone else likes it. Thats what usually happens to me. By the way, the first time i bought it i never read the akai berry flavor on the label. Never heard of it. Being an all natural beverage and having a green can, i thought it was green tea flavor and liked it. Wonder if others would have liked it too, if not for the wierd berry ive never heard of?

Elroy, let me recommend Arizona’s ‘All City’ energy drink; they have a similar flavor, and it is green tea based. I’ll offer a review in a day or two.

Other good news (for you and Darren), Full Throttle Mother is getting another production run. That will depend on your local bottler of course, but I’ve seen cans with fresh dates on them. So it should be around at least a little while longer.

I just picked up about eight of these, thinking I found a great deal.. (four for a buck) ..at the dollar store, but quickly decided they must have been poisoned. They taste kind of like fruity black licorish.. Also, they smell like tar. This is something I am going to hand out on campus.

I think it was awesome to have an energy drink without HFCS. I’m sad it was discontinued because I thought it was better than the original flavor.
