V8 V.Fusion Pomegranate Blueberry

After trying the original V8 vegetable juice many years ago as a kid, I became emotionally scarred. Just the V8 logo sent shivers down my spine; it grossed me out that much. Different strokes for different folks I guess, but I have no clue how the stuff has remained on the market all this time.

A few years ago, they realized the original flavor was disgusting, and proceeded to start making these juice blends with various fruits. Tempted as I was to try them, I never could quite shake that mental ‘image’ of the original. But it is my duty dear readers, rather my privilege, to expand the range of products offered for review on this site.

As fate would have it, a 12 ounce bottle of V8 V. Fusion Pomegranate Blueberry happened to be sitting cold in my refrigerator not too long ago while I was looking for something to drink that was not carbonated. I know it belonged to someone else in my house, and I apologize to them for stealing it.

Curiosity got the better of me, so I poured myself a ’shot’ sized amount, and I bent over the sink, quite sure I’d be repulsed and spit it out. Amazingly, it went down pretty smoothly, without so much as a dry heave. The taste was pleasant; tart but still sweet enough. I stuck a straw in the bottle, and proceeded to drink the remaining eleven or so ounces.

V8 V.Fusion combines fruit and veggie juice blends, giving you the equivalent of one ’serving’ of each. A half cup (4 ounces) equals a serving of fruit and/or vegetables. A serving of the actual product is 12 ounces, so if you drink the whole bottle, and my math is correct (shocker), you get one and a half servings of both fruits and veggies. Confused yet? I am.

Closest tasting thing I could compare this flavor to is the original Juicy Juice juice. I think anyway, it’s been quite awhile since I’ve had any of that. Pomegranate definitely overpowered the blueberry flavor, but it wasn’t that bad. Regardless, it just tastes good, and it’s fairly good for you. You could get lucky and your kids may even like it! The twelve ounce bottle is perfect for lunch boxes, and there is no sugar added. I’m not saying there isn’t any sugar though, fruits are full of it. The only area of ‘concern’ I have with this beverage is calories, 100 per 8 ounces, which is approaching ’soda’ like levels. The main difference is, these calories aren’t empty, there is a lot of nutritional value packed into the stuff. I look forward to trying the remaining flavors for you guys! Easy recommendation.

The half-calorie, half-sugar v-8 stuff (I know, diabeetus can’t be that bad!) isn’t too bad either. It goes down nice and smooth. Just like sweet, sweet, kahlua. OK, maybe it won’t get you drunk, but it is pretty good.

I just read a review on the half-and-half stuff; I hope to try it soon. Word has it that it’s decent.

Ya nice review but check the statistics. Did you know that 53% of the buyers threw-up after drinking this? Did you know those who try it end up with a 50% chance of NEVER trying it again?

I got 2 daughters. I would consider this drink to be a cruel and an unusual punishment. Infact I wouldnt wish this “drink” upon my worst enemy.

Are you sure we’re on the same page? This isn’t the vomit inducing V8 tomato juice……

I love the v-fusion. It’s like tricking myself to get vegetables. I always wished that I liked the regular V8. So this one’s for me. Yay!

Love the V-8 Blueberry/Pomegranate! BUT where do you find the calories, fat, and fiber information??? It’s no where on the web-site.
