Taco Bell Fiesta Platter

I consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur on Mexican food. I absolutely love it and really know the good from the mediocre. Which brings us to Taco Bell. See how made that transition? Nice. The Bell is, like most fast food joints, tricky. One night you may get a fresh, good meal and next time you may get a stale meal that you immediately regret eating. I am a big Taco Bell lover (not because it’s the best Mexican food, but it is fast, easy and fairly cheap) so I’ve learned some Bell strategy over the years to get the best that the chain offers.
First off, the best time to get Taco Bell is in its primetime hours: usually 4:30-7pm. The line may be sufficiently longer, but the food will be fresh and tasty. Secondly, avoid opening hours. The Bell is a money making business so it doesn’t like or want to waste food. There’s a good chance that what you order at opening hours will be left over from late the night before making your food tough, tasteless and very hard to choke down.
Now that we got that out of the way, Taco Bell introduced a new menu item this week called the “Fiesta Platter.” I always get excited when there’s a new product at my favorite fast food place so I wanted to try it as soon as I could. Darn those commercials work! The Fiesta Platter includes your choice of two chicken or steak soft tacos or one chicken or steak “Grilled Stuft Burrito.” I went with the “Grilled Stuft Burrito” because I find it much more filling and I’m not a big fan of soft tacos (they’re messy and a taco just isn’t meant to be soft people!) The sides are surprisingly big portioned with a bed of tortilla chips that comes with a cup of well spiced chunky salsa, Mexican rice and Taco Bell’s famous pintos and cheese, all for a reasonable $4.99.
I picked up my meal at 5pm so my food was very fresh and extremely delicious. The platter has a good amount of food and will fill up an average sized man. The Bell made a nice addition with this item. It is well priced, very filling and down right tasty. It may be the best Bell specialty since the “Cheesy Gordita Crunch” was first introduced. I will buy the “Fiesta Platter” again.

U.S grade 5 beef is used in their products. Hence the ‘affordable prices’ you find at Taco Hell. Notice that alot of their high volume business occurs when the drunks leave the bars and/or when the stoners have a case of the munchies.
Equivalent to eating a dog and cat carcass.

Taco Bell = high probablity of E. Coli poisoning. Enjoy.

We here at Consumer’s Corner are equal opportunity carnivores. Grade 5 is fine, dogs or cats be darned.

The only problem with the fiesta platter is a lot of the texture and color is the same. The “brown diet” is cool, but doens’t work for all of us.

Stange, red icculus, elaborate on this ‘brown diet’ for the consumer’s corner readers please. I am curious.

Almost all fast food establishments use a low grade of beef and at Taco Bell it’s no different! Like Jeremy said an animal is an animal, delicious.
I too find red icculus’ statement confusing. My meal had a white (grilled so some brown) burrito, red, yellow and brown pintos and cheese, orange spanish rice and red salsa. There was actually little brown on my platter. Like I wrote in the article, I’ll be ordering the Fiesta Platter again.

If you suscribe to Darwinian theory then a human is an animal. Sounds cannabalistic to me. If any of Taco Bells meat suppliers are from China, you can bet it has prisoner parts included. Good economic policy for all I must say.

To be quite frank with you Andy, after your spending considerable time in the drive-thru lane or even ‘to go’ on the inside, how many ‘South Of The Border’ customers or even employees have you encountered at this establishment? People from Latin American cultures avoid this place like the plaque. That should be a ‘major hint’ to you.

Since I’m in my car, I don’t encounter anyone except the person at the window.

Well Andy have you seen a ‘South Of The Border’ employee working the drive-thru window? I think not.
February 18th, 2008 at 11:37 pm
No I only see them out back taking care of the trash.

They could perhaps be checking their traps for stray animals. Have you tried the ‘Gorditas, Chalupas, etc.’ Este es la mejor nota. (This is the best!)
