Smirnoff Ice Light
Smirnoff Ice Light is a fairly decent alternative to Smirnoff Ice, in the event you’re looking for something with less calories. Smirnoff Ice is notorious for being high in calories; something in the 170 calorie range (give or take 30 calories, depending on where you get your info). The light version is closer to 110, or about around a one-third decrease in calories.
Smirnoff Ice was my favorite malternative; I’d knock back a six pack of these pretty quick at a tail-gate party. I’ve since moved on to mixed drinks when I do my ‘partying’ (almost never), but I was excited to try this. I was curious if they could pull off a decent tasting beverage without using as much sugar. Well, they can.
It was decent. A lot less filling (great thing!). Has a hint more of a ‘beer’ profile out of it, but I was kind of expecting it. Granted, it’s a flavor I hate, so I’m incredibly sensitive to it. But it was drinkable, and I may be purchasing more in the future. I hope it catches on; it a nice alternative to the classic malternative. I recommend it for the market that it was intended for!

The more beer flavor was from the malt alcohol that they used.
Coors Light and Miller Lite are both about 100 calories, so this is hardly “light” but as far as a malternative, it is definitely lower on the calories for the taste.

I love this drink. Since I am on a diet, at least I can have this drink and not feel guilty. I just learned that this drink is going to be discontinued. Seems like everytime I start liking a flavor, they discontinue it. There are many light choices for men, but they won’t leave the good ones on the market for women.
