Eric and Brucie are absolutely correct. I work at Arnotts (on the tim tam line) and as of two weeks ago (I'm on holiday in the US) Arnotts produce and package both products. Meniscuszine, any differences might be due to the transportation differences. Thanks for enjoying Tim Tams, may I recommend Tim Tam White?

Eric G and Brucie: We stand by what we wrote in the article :) The taste test was done with both packages on the same table. The expectation was that both versions would be identical, or close to identical. This was not the case with multiple samples, even after the palette was cleansed each time by washing down with milk. Granted, at the time this was written, the Pepperidge Farm version was released to press before it hit the market, so it's possible that the American version has improved.

Ahh eating the cookies by themselves is all well and good, but the "Tim Tam Slam" is the way to do it OZ style... Get your self some black tea. Bit a small nip off of two diagnal ends of the cookie and proceed to draw the hot tea through them like a straw. The trick is to stuff the whole cookie in your mouth before it melts. Good Luck

Eric G is correct -- Tim Tams are made in Oz and imported to the US.

Both Arnott's, the originator of Tim Tams, and Pepperidge Farm are owned by Campbells Soup Company -- it was a big scandal when Arnott's sold out to Yanks, a bit like Budweiser being sold to the Belgians!

If you look on the package of Pepperidge Farm Tim Tams you'll see that it says "product of Australia".

Arnott's is indeed much better than Pepperidge Farm tim tams. My uncle from Australia sent some of these to me when I was a teenager. They are still at 21, my most favorite cookie ever.

Steve, I saw that article too and laughed at it because it's bogus.

Arnott's in Australia makes all of the Tim Tams, including the Pepperidge Farm version (they are imported, not locally baked). The only difference is the packaging. They even show a video of the Arnott's factory making the cookies on the Pepperidge Farm Tim Tam website.

He was basically comparing two different batches of the same cookie, which I suppose could vary slightly. I've had both and they seem identical to me.

Someone compared the Arnott's version of Tim Tam they sell in Australia to the Pepperidge Farm version and determined the Arnott's version to be far superior.

The Pepperidge salesman is one of the nicest guys that I know at my grocery stores. I did have to admit to him that I can't consume his products because we are eating healthy for the wedding. These look absolutely sinful!
